Woking and Runnymede Health Walks
***Ramblers Walking for Health Coronavirus Update, 4pm 17th March 2020***
You will have seen the announcements made by the Government on Mon 16 March. We have been following Government advice and we continue to do so. Our top priority is protecting the health of our schemes, partners, walkers, volunteers and all those who take part in Ramblers Walking for Health. We also want to help supress the spread of the covid19 virus. So, I want to update you on what we are doing and what we need you to do.
From Wednesday 18th March we are suspending all Ramblers Walking for Health activities – including group walks, social activities and other meetings. All these activities must stop until further notice and at least until the 31st May, subject to further developments.
We have also asked the Ramblers Groups and Areas to do the same.
We will keep you updated with the latest information on our response to the covid19 virus on https://www.ramblers.org.uk/coronavirus
The best way to contact us is to first check the website link for information.
If you have any questions, please get in touch via firstname.lastname@example.org and we will aim to get back to you as soon as possible. Please note that our offices will only have essential staff, and the Ramblers Walking for Health team are all working from home.
How to stay active while you are at home
Sport England have provided some useful ideas about how to stay active if you are at home. They can be accessed from their website on https://www.sportengland.org/news/how-stay-active-while-youre-home
Thank you for your understanding and support, this is an unusual time for us all. ***
Run by Woking Mind, Woking & Runnymede Health Walks is your local Walking for Health scheme. Our walks are free, fun and friendly – perfect to help you get active and meet new people. All walks are a maximum of 90 minutes and finish with a chance for refreshments and a chat!
We also have ‘starter’ walks (a max of 30 mins) every Tuesday at 11am in the Woking area – perfect if you’re new to exercise, have a health condition, need a very gentle pace or just want to try it out
If you’d like to take part, all you have to do is come along to the start point of one of our walks a few minutes early, so that one of our trained walk leaders can take your details. Then you’re free to take part in as many walks as you like, as often as you like.
Please note that well behaved dogs on leads are welcome on our walks (although a few routes are suitable for assistance dogs only and are labelled accordingly on the specific walk details/ programme).
If you want to know more before you start, just get in touch with Tasha Feddery (walks coordinator) email: email@example.com or call 07473 404 962 / 01483 757461.
