Walking Wyre

About Us

Walking is free and you can easily fit it into your normal daily routine. The Walking Wyre scheme helps you increase your amount of physical activity and improve your health and wellbeing. All the walks are free, open to all regardless of age or fitness levels, suitable for beginners, plus they are a great way to meet new people and make new friends.

Our scheme is coordinated by Wyre Council and our team of volunteer walk leaders are based at the Wyre Estuary Country Park, Thornton-Cleveleys.

We run a minimum of 3 x 1 hour walks each week, led by experienced and fully trained volunteers from over 10 regular locations – in  Fleetwood, Cleveleys, Knott End, Hambleton, Gt. Eccleston, Wyre Estuary Country Park, Gastang, Singleton , Poulton-le-Fylde and Thornton.  In addition we offer health walks at a variety of other locations throughout Wyre Borough.

We also offer a monthly 2 hour Legstretcher with a small charge for these and longer 3 hour and full day walks which are themed and charged. You can find the details of all of these on our Walking Wyre programme.
