Reading Walks Programme
Welcome to Reading Walks community walking scheme. This scheme is aimed at getting more people in Reading walking. This scheme is a great way to meet new people, improve your health and get to know your local community.
Monday, 10.00 a.m. - 11.00 a.m. Whiteknights Walk. Meet at the No.21 Bus Stop outside the Whiteknights House universty administration building on the main university campus. A varied circuit around the grounds with beautiful views of the lakes, their wildlife - and the Harris Garden, always maintained to seasonal splendour by its group of gardening-enthusiast volunteers. Coffee and meeting of all groups is at the end of the walk at The Square student cafeteria.
Monday, Fortnighly TIlehurst Potteries Walk (exc BH). 10.30am - 11.00am, meet at The Tilehurst Potteries Surgery,for a walk around the Tilehurst area, finishing with a chat and hot drink (own purchase) at the Tylers Rest on Norcot Rd. Forthcoming walking dates are: 14th May, 18th June, 2nd July, 16th & 30th July 18.
Wednesday, 11:00 a.m. - 11.40 a.m, Carers Walk meet in Reception of Palmer Park Sports Stadium for a gentle walk around Palmer Park. A varied circuit of 40 mins. to blow out the cobwebs and get the circulation going. This walk is designed for families with buggies, nannies, carers and their relatives or clients with wheelchairs.
Thursday, 10.15 - 11.30am. Meet at Grovelands Medical Centre 701 Oxford Road for around Reading picturesque walks, along the River Thames or other local trails. PLEASE DO NOT PARK IN SURGERY CAR PARK. This level/pace of walk is moderate and not suitable for those who want a gentle walk.
Thursday, 9.45 - 11.00am. Meet at Prospect Park Car Park off Liebenrood Road, Reading. This walk is divided into three ability-level walks. All walks are within the Prospect Park grounds. This level/pace of walk is for all levels. This walk is managed by Heartbeats, the West Berkshire Heart Support Team.
Last Friday of the Month, 11.00-12.00pm Meet at Coley Park Community Centre, Wensley Rd. Take a walk along the Holybrook and through the surrounding Fields. PLEASE NOTE:
