Ribble Valley: Stepping Out in the Ribble Valley

About Us

Everyone is very welcome to walk with us whatever your age or fitness levels.  We have a variety of walks providing something for all.  The walks are led by trained and qualified volunteers and we also provide someone at the back of the walk.  Apart from on Sundays, all our walks may have steps, stiles or gradients.

If you want to start walking or discuss which walk is best for you, talk to Barrie Williams our Co-ordinator on 01200 414484.

HEALTH WALKS

These walks are an ideal way to get started, meet fellow walkers and improve your fitness level. All health walks are under 90 minutes and allow you to progress as your fitness improves!

Getting Started: This is a new walk and is ideal if you are brand new to walking. It is a very gentle walk and is also suitable for people who have a walking aid or people with reduced mobility/balance or who might not be confident to walk on their own. The walk will last between 15 and 30 minutes depending on your ability

Gentle:  These walks will be relatively flat and at a gentle pace. The walks will be 1 to 1½ miles long. Allow about 1 hour to  complete.

Leg Stretchers: These walks will be at a moderate pace.  They may involve some stiles and steps and gradual gradients. These walks will be 2½  to 3½  miles long. Allow about 1 hour to 1½  hours to complete.

PROGRESSION WALKS

These walks are a great progression from the shorter ‘Health Walks’  They will include off road walking, stiles and gradients. If you are new to walking, or are unsure about your fitness level we recommend you attend one our Health walks first

Go-for-it: These walks will be at a moderate pace.  They will involve ‘off road’ walking and some stiles and gradients.  If you are unsure about your fitness levels we would recommend that you attend one of our more gentle walks first.  Go-for-it walks will be 3½  to 4½  miles in length.  Allow 1½ to 2 hours to complete.

Stop and Stare:These walks will be mainly 'off road' and involve stiles and gradients but we do allow plenty of time to negotiate these. They will be 5 to 7 miles in length but at a slower pace than the ’Treks and Trails’ walks below. We have a planned stop and invite you to bring a packed lunch and/or refreshments. Allow about 4 hours to complete

Treks n Trails: These walks will involve ‘off road’ walking  and will involve stiles, and gradients.  They will be 5 to 7 miles long and are a good introduction to further walking.  Please allow 2 to 3 hours to complete.
