North Somerset Walking for Health

About Us

North Somerset Walking for Health welcomes over 300 regular walkers per week in and around Clevedon, Long Ashton, Nailsea, Portishead, Weston-super-Mare, Winscombe, Worle and Yatton.

If you are currently not exercising health walks will not only offer you the opportunity to get physically active at a pace that suits you, it will also provide an opportunity to meet new people and socialise.

We offer a programme of group walks, encouraging people of all ages to become more active. (You can take  a look at all of the progammes in the download box).

Our walks are led by friendly volunteer walk leaders who very much welcome you to join their groups.

Walks vary in duration from 30 minutes up to an hour.  We welcome all abilities and very much encourage those who have not exercised for some time to come and walk.

All our walk leaders are volunteers who have completed Walking for Health training with many of them also first aid trained.

On your first walk, please allow time for registration (10 minutes before the start of the walk) and to complete a Walker Registration Form and a Health Survey Questionnaire (these can be viewed in the download box).

The leader will tell you about the route at the start; we try to avoid steep hills, stiles, many steps or very muddy/slippery surfaces.  However, be prepared for the odd hill and stile, grass, uneven surfaces or puddles after rain.  Please wear sensible shoes, preferably walking shoes or trainers, especially during the autumn and winter months.

For those who have not exercised for a long while or feel they could not manage more than 30 minutes the following groups lead 30 minute walks:

Clevedon

Long Ashton

Portishead

Nailsea

For our scheme to continue to thrive we are always looking for volunteers who would be interested in attending a one-day course to become a Health Walk Leader.

If you would like to help others get more active through walking and and be prepared alongside others to lead short walks on a regular basis then please get in touch.

Our next training will be on Friday 11th January 2019 at Clevedon Town Council Offices.

Do contact us if you are interested in attending.
