Maidstone Health Walks

About Us

All the listed walks are easy and short walks which you can do at your own pace.   Open to all ages and abilities.   They are friendly, safe and are all free. In Mote Park we are now providing a special Short Walk on Tuesdays, aimed at people returning to light exercise after illness or a physical limitation, which can also accommodate clients suffering from Dementia or Alzheimer's.

Both the Long and the Short walks now leave the Café area at 11.00, led by a trained Walk Leader, but this will change back to 10.30 from the 3rd July, following a poll. Please aim to arrive ten minutes or so before in order to sign in for which ever walk you feel appropriate.

If you are interested in becoming a Walk Leader then you are very welcome and training is free.   If you want any more details you can contact me, Paul Linaker, on linaker3@btinternet.com or on my mobile number which is 07836 720643.

Tuesdays - Mote Park, currently 11.00am, but 10.30am from 3rd July. Meet outside the Café in the Park. In addition to a walk of around 1 hour there is also a shorter walk option of around 30 - 45 minutes taken at a slower pace, which is suitable for people new to or coming back to walking, or limited by health issues who would like a gentle walk. It is also dementia friendly.

Wednesdays - Cherry Orchard, 11.30am. Meet at the roundabout near Tesco Express, just off Hermitage Lane, near Maidstone Hospital. This walk normally last 45 minutes taking in woodland paths and pavements and ends up at the Blackthorn Café for refreshments. A longer walk of just over an hour can be made by arrangement with the Walk Leader for those wishing to exercise for a longer period.

Thursdays - Maidstone Town Centre, 11.00am. Meet outside Town Hall, Jubliee Square. The walk heads down through Brenchley Gardens to Whatman Park and along both sides of the river and normally lasts about 1 hour, but, by arrangement, there is an option for a thirty minute walk for those who feel they can not manage the full hour. Some Walkers then head back up into town for refreshment at the Brenchley.
