Hackney: Walking Together

About Us


is a program of walks run by health walk leaders/first aiders from different locations across the London Borough of Hackney. Walking is an excellent activity to participate in, it’s a safe activity which helps to improve health as well as:

Making you feel good

Increases bone density

Giving you more energy

Reducing stress

Helping to manage weight

Helping you to sleep better

Helping to reduce blood pressure

The ‘walkingtogether’ program offers a range of walks which take place in parks with in the London Borough of Hackney. The group walks are a great way to socialise, meet new people, and reap the health and wellbeing benefits of being outdoors and active.The health walks are suitable for all ages and vary in difficulty.

The free led walks are appropriate for those who are beginners to moderate pace.

The walks are appropriate for those who have been reasonably active and enjoy structured activity.

The walks are led by a qualified health walks leaders and first aider, the free walks last between 30 mins to an hour

It has been said ... Seven days of non physical activity makes one WEAK!!!

So for a step in the right direction and a breathe of fresh air ... walk your way onto a 'health' walk.

Simply contact the Health Walks Activity Coordinator who will ensure you are personally greeted by a Walks Leader on the day. 

Please arrive 5 minutes before the walk is due to start in shoes comfortable for walking

Our Walks

Hackney Diabetes Centre walks – anyone with diabetes can join

Mondays, 10-11.30am and Wednesdays, 2-3pm (please arrive 15 minutes early) – new members, please arrive half an hour early to register. Meeting point: Homerton University Hospital, Hackney Diabetes Centre, Homerton Row, E9 6SR. Leader(s): Diabetes Lay Educators. Intensity: varied.

We check walkers’ blood glucose levels before and after the walk. For more information call the Diabetes Lay Educators on 020 8510 5920 / 7875.


Clissold Park

Tuesdays, 1-2pm, moderate intensity

Meets outside Clissold House, inside Clissold Park (at the bench at the bottom of the slope near the pond), Greenway Close, N16 9HJ.

Fit 4 Health slow paced walk

Tuesdays, 1-1.45pm, Clissold Park, N16 9HJ

A free specialised walk for people recovering from, or at risk from, stroke or TIA and people with mobility issues.


London Fields

Wednesdays, 12.15-1pm, moderate intensity

Meets at Hackney Town Hall steps, Mare Street, E8 1HH.

Stamford Hill

Wednesdays, 2-2.45pm

Victoria Park
