Kingsbridge Walk & Talk

About Us

Kingsbridge Walk & Talk is part of Walking for Health in South Devon.

There are  5 other schemes in the South Hams including Totnes, Ivybridge, Dartmouth, Modbury & South Brent.

The walks are led by trained, friendly, volunteer walk leaders who will be sure to give you a warm welcome. If you are a new walker, please arrive 10 minutes before the start time to complete a simple registration form.

All walks are free, all you need are comfortable shoes, loose fitting clothing and waterproofs if wet. And do bring some money if you wish to stop for refreshments afterwards.

Walking is the lowest risk of all physical activities, yet produces massive benefits to physical fitness and mental wellbeing. It is a great way to explore your local area, make new friends and learn more about your immediate community.

Devon County Council Public Health supports Active Devon and South Hams CVS in developing Walking For Health, so that more people in the area can enjoy being part of a local health walk group.

Kingsbridge Walk and Talk offers walks on two days of the week:

Grade 1 walk Wednesday – This walk is  suitable for people who have not walked much before, are looking to be more active, or are returning from injury or illness. They are up to 30 minutes on flat ground or gentle slopes with mainly firm surfaces and accessible to pushchairs and wheelchairs.

Grade 2 walk Monday – This walk is suitable for people who are looking to increase their activity levels. They are between 30 - 60 minutes and may include some moderate slopes, steps, uneven surfaces and possibly stiles.

Grade 3 walk Monday – This walk is suitable for people looking for more challenging walks and increasing their level of physical activity. They are generally 45 – 90 minutes and may include steeper slopes, steps, uneven surfaces and stiles.

Grade 4 walks – Wednesday at 1330. This walk is for people who have undertaken Walking for Health grade 3 walks and are now looking to take their next steps. These walks are 90 minutes in duration, cover 4 to 5 miles and are likely to include slopes, steps, stiles and uneven surfaces.  Stops for rest and drinks usually add up to about another 30 minutes, while travelling to and from the start and finish of a walk can occupy anything up to an hour in total (usually 30-40 minutes).  We leave from Quay House at 1330 and are normally back in Kingsbridge by 1630. Contact Tony Watson, 07831 692652 for more information.

Normally the grade 2 and 3 start the walk together and then split off to complete a longer and shorter walk.

Nature walks are also available during the summer. See programme for walk details.

If you require any more details please contact Chris or Vivienne via the details on the programme.
