Come along to a regular Award Winning Health Walk and..."Walk your way to health"

The IOW Health walk leaders won the award at the 2015 IOW NHS Trust Awards for the Team of Outstanding Volunteers!!

Led every week by experienced volunteer Walks Leaders, all short walks are fairly level and you can walk at your own pace.

Isle of Wight Health Walks List

 

Cowes Health Walks

Every Monday 10.30 am – Meet at Northwood House small car park off Ward Ave. PO31 8AZ

EXCEPT last Monday of the month which is at Parkhurst Forest, Forest Rd, Newport.PO30 5LZ Duration 1-1.5 hours.

 

West Wight Health Walk

Every Monday 1pm - Meet at Moa Place, West Wight Sports and Community Centre PO40 9XH. Duration 1.5 hours

 

Brighstone Short Health Walk

Every first and third Tuesday of the month at 1:30pm – Meet at Brighstone Library PO30 4AX Duration 1-1.5 hours.

 

Ryde Health Walk

Every Tuesday 10:30am – Meet on Ryde Esplanade, outside Super Bowl. PO33 2EL Duration 1-1.5 hours.

 

Newport Short Walk (starts April 5th)

1st and 3rd Wednesday - Meet at the entrance to Medina Leisure Centre PO30 2DX Duration 40 mins

 

West Wight Very Short

Every Wednesday (starting April 5th 2017) - Meet at Moa Place Cafe, West Wight Sports and Community Centre

PO40 9AX Duration 30 mins

 

Lake Health Walk

Short (3miles) are every Thursday at 10:15 for 10:30 start – Meet by bench on Lake Common. PO36 9HP

Duration 1-1.5 hours.

 

Wootton

Every Thursday at 1:30pm – Meet at Brannon Way, off the main road. PO33 4NU Duration 1-1.5 hours.

 

Shanklin Sea Front Health Walk

ONLY IN SUMMER –Beginning of March to end of October - Every Thursday at 10:30 – Meeting at the foot of the lift, car park. PO37 6BG Duration 30 minutes

 

Newport Health Walk

Every Friday 10:30am – Meet outside at the bus stop opposite Barton Promary School, Furrlongs, Newport PO30 2AX. Duration 1-1.5 hours.

 

Ventnor Health Walk

Every first Friday of the month at 10:15 - 10:30 - Meet at the car park on Ventnor High Street (opp. Tesco) PO38 1PF

Duration 1 Hour.

Ryde Library Health Walk

Short Walk – monthly on Fridays (1.5 miles) 10:30. Duration 1 hour.

Long Walk –Monthly on Fridays (3 miles) 10:30. Duration 1-1.5 hours.

Progression Walks – not part of the Walking for Health Programme

These are longer walks for walkers that feel they have progressed from the shorter Health Walks and looking for more of a challenge.

 

St. Helens Health Walk

Every Wednesday 10:00 – Meet at the Sport Pavilion, The Green, St. Helens. PO33 1UJ Duration 1-1.5 hours

West Wight Walk

Every Wednesdays at 10:00  Meet outside Honnor and Jeffrey Afton Road, Freshwater. PO40 9UH. Duration 3 hours.

Lake Walk

Every Thursday at 10.30 Intermediate/Advance. Meet by the bench on Lake Common, Lake Green Rd, Lake.

PO36 9HP Duration 3-3.5 hours.

Important notes for participating walkers.

Walkers - please ensure that if you have any medical problems that you alert the walk leader of your condition and advise the leader of any medication you are carrying (this information is required in case of an incident - and will be recorded on your health questionnaire too)

Risk - all walkers walk at their own risk and neither the IWCouncil nor their appointed agents and guides can take responsibility for personal injury or accident.

Walk Leaders - the volunteer walk leaders reserve the right to refuse participation to any walker if they are not suitably attired or in the leaders opinion feel that they would be unsuitable to undertake the walk.

Timings - of all the walks are approximate and will depend on group abilities and size

Dogs - are allowed on the walks, but it is the owners responsibility to control of them on leads and to clean up after them.

Car Parks - please ensure that your car park ticket is sufficient should the walk run over time.
