Improving Lives Plymouth - Active for All & The Ocean Conservation Trust
Small group walks will restart from Monday 6th July 2020.
If you would like to join our walks, please read all the information below and then book a place by calling Active for All on 01752 201891. Please note that due to reduced capacity it may take a couple days to respond to your call. Once your place is booked, If you are unable to attend, please cancel your booking so that someone else can take your place. Please do not turn up for a walk without booking, as we will have to turn you away.
Due to COVID-19, everyone needs to take steps to stay safe. Please follow all safety advice given by the walk leader, and keep 2 metres distance from anyone outside your household or social bubble.
Improving Lives Plymouth's Active for All project delivers 3 walks a week around The Hoe and The Barbican in partnership with the Ocean Conservation Trust (who run the National Marine Aquarium). These walks take place every Monday and Friday and are free to attend.
Please remember to wear sensible footwear, bring waterproofs if necessary and bring a drink to take along the walk with you.
We meet at the Mayflower steps at 10.45am for an 11am start. This is a brisk, 1 hour walk which will finish with an opportuntiy to join us for a drink in a local cafe. This walk has been kindly supported by funding through South West Water.
We meet outside the main entrance to the Aquarium (unless the swing bridge is closed, then we meet at the Mayflower Steps) every Friday at 11.15 for a 11.30 start. In the morning we do a fast-paced 60 minute walk around the Hoe with some steps and inclines. We then have a cuppa and chat after the walk.
We also meet in the afternoon at 1.15 for a 1.30 start (same meeting place; Aquarium if bridge open, Mayflower Steps if bridge closed) this is a gentler walk of about 30 minutes on a flat(ish) route.
Our walks are open to all and are delivered in partnership by the National Marine Aquarium and Improving Lives Plymouth's Active for All service which supports adults with disabilities and long-term health conditions to become more active.
The Active for All Walk leader is called Cindy and is supported by volunteer walk leaders.
Well behaved dogs on non-retractible leads welcome!
