A volunteer run scheme that walks once a week from the Retford Cricket Club. As a group that has developed over many years we have the capability to offer a range of walks. These vary from a 30 minute walk once a month to a selection of four walks each Tuesday starting at 10:00 am.This means there should be something there for any level of walker, from somebody just starting out to somebody who is an expericenced walker.
As well as the 30 minute WFH walk we have two others which are between 60 and 90 minutes long and these are different in that they are walked at a different pace or over a different distance. Our next two walks are for the more adventurous walkers. These are over varied terrain and can be between 5 and 7 miles long and take upto 120 minutes to complete.
Note that the last two walks are not covered under the Walking for Health Scheme because of the duration.
All walks are lead by trained walk leaders and the walks are also risk assessed these being reviewed on a regular frequency.
Once you have completed your walk, you can then join your fellow walkers for a well earned drink of coffee or tea.
We also offer a Wednesday evening walk from Babworth Road Sports & Social Club Retford. This starts at 18:30 there are refreshments available with this walk from the club. The walks take place between the months of April and September. The last walk for 2017 will be on the 6th September 2017. The Wednesday walks will then recommence on the 11th April 2018.

All our walks start at 10.00 am on Tuesday mornings and are from Retford Cricket Club Cricket Field Lane. They are walks graded as per Walking for Health guidance,
Starter walk - suitable for people who have not walked much before, are looking to be more active, or are returning from injury or illness, They are up to 30 minutes on flat ground or gentle slopes with mainly firm surfaces and no steps or stiles.
Basic walk - This is a Walking for Health grade 2 walk-suitable for people who are looking to increase their activity levels. This usually takes around 60 minutes to complete and may include some moderate slopes, steps, uneven surfaces and possibly stiles
Intermediate walk - Walking for Health grade 3 walk - for people looking for a more challenging walk and increase their level of physical activity. They are generally 45 - 90 minutes and may include steeper slopes, steps, uneven surfaces and stiles.
Advanced walk ( progressive walk) - for people who have undertaken Walking for Health grade 3 walks and are now looking to take their next steps. These walks are more than 90 minutes in duration and are likely to incude slopes, steps, stiles uneven surfaces and even muddy conditions.
Challenger walk -This a progressive walk for people moving up from the Advanced walk. This walk is at a faster pace than the advanced walk. This walk is usually 7 miles long and takes around 120 minutes to complete. These walks will include slopes, steps, stiles uneven surfaces and even muddy conditions. This is a more challenging walk and not suitable for all walkers..
Our evening walk is a Grade 3 walk - for people looking for more challenging walks and increasing their levels of physical activity. They are generally 45 - 90 minutes and may include steeper slopes, steps, uneven surfaces and stiles.
