Darlington Doorstep Walks is a scheme offering a variety of short health walks for all abilities.  The walks are based in Darlington and the surrounding area.

Darlington Health Walks Scheme

Below is all the information regarding the walks we offer:

Health Walks 60 - 90 Minutes

Wednesday Walks – 10am Various Venues Each Week

A volunteer walk leader will support you in your walk. The walks take place in the parks and open spaces in the town and can venture onto grassy muddy areas. All you need to bring is suitable clothing for the weather and suitable secure footwear for walking in. Please contact the Move More Team on movemore@darlington.gov.uk for latest time table. Please note this walk is offered as a 30minute health walk option should you want to stop after 30 minutes due to the nature of the routes.

Middleton St George Health Walks – Wednesdays 1.30pm Fighting Cocks Pub/Devonport Pub

A Volunteer walk leader will support you in your walk. The walks take place in and around Middleton St George using the park land and open spaces the village has to offer. These walks can venture onto grassy muddy areas. All you need to bring is suitable clothing for the weather and suitable secure footwear for walking in. 30 Minute Health Walks

Wednesday Walks – 10am Various Venues Each Week

As part of the Wednesday walk there is an option to take part in a 30 minute walk. The walks utilise the park and open spaces with the town and offer shorter loops. A volunteer walk leader will support you in your walk and can venture onto grassy muddy areas. All you need to bring is suitable clothing for the weather and suitable secure footwear for walking in. Progressive Walks

Nordic Walking

Tuesday 10am – 11am South Park Clock Tower

Thursday 10am – 11am South Park Clock Tower

Friday 10am - 11am South Park Clock Tower

We provide Nordic walking poles and trained staff that can support you in learning the technique of Nordic Walking. The walks take place in the parks and open spaces in the town and can venture onto grassy muddy areas. All you need to bring is suitable clothing for the weather and suitable secure footwear for walking in.

If it is your first Nordic walk session feel free to turn up 5 minutes early to meet the instructor. You will need to complete a form at the start of the session and the instructor will give you a quick introduction to the Nordic walking poles before you start.

The sessions cost £2.50 per person and booking is required, please contact movemore@darlington.gov.uk or call 01325 405400 to reserve your place.
