Friday Health Walk
High Woods Country Park, a Green Flag park, is 370 acres of mixed woodland, meadows and parkland close to Colchester town centre.
Friday health walks are short circular walks suitable for all abilities, including beginners. Each circuit will take between 20 and 30 minutes and can be repeated for those who wish to walk longer - up to an hour. Sufficient walk leaders participate to ensure that you can walk at your own pace. The walks take place on surfaced paths (these can be a little muddy in places in winter) with some slight inclines; benches are sited at regular intervals along the routes which go through woodland, with glimpses of the lake and surrounding parkland.
The Sunday Strolls are also led by volunteer walk leaders and last up to 1 1/2 hours, covering more of the park's area. They may be on surfaced and unsurfaced paths with some steeper inclines in places.
The walks are well attended and sociable; everyone is made to feel welcome.
