Our Walks

Walking for Health walks led by trained Volunteer Walk Leaders. The walks range in length from 30 minutes - 90 minutes. They are short, accessible walks over easy terrain.

 

Inspire to Action - short health walk - 30mins max duration - this short walks takes place once a month (the dates vary) on the running track at Bolton Arena, Horwich.  Predominantly targetting those on the specialist weight management programme and our cancer referral pathway but is open to anyone who may find the Level 1 walks to much as a starting point.  Participants can do as many laps as they choose and are fully supported by trained walk leaders.

 

Level 1 Health Walk30 minutes - 1 hour duration – gentle pace, good footpaths, fairly flat, no steps or stiles

Tuesday 10.00am - Meet inside Lancashire Wildlife Centre, Bury Road, Breightmet, BL2 6DH

Tuesday 10.30am - Meet outside Rock Hall Visitors Centre, Moses Gate Country Park, Hall Lane, Farnworth, BL4 7QN - pushchair & wheelchair friendly 

 

Level 2 Health Walks - Maxium 1.5 hour duration - medium pace, varied but accessible terrain, some gentle hills, occasional steps & / or stiles

Monday 2.00pm - meet outside Ladybridge surgery, Broadgate, Ladybridge, BL3 4PZ 

Tuesday 10.00am - meet outside Hulton Lane Community Centre, Hulton Lane, BL3 4JJ

Tuesday 10.30am – meet outside Rock Hall Visitors Centre, Moses Gate Country Park, Hall Lane, Farnworth, BL4 7QN

Tuesday 1.30pm - meet outside Morrisons off Lee Gate, Harwood, BL2 3HN (option of a longer walk depending on the gruop)

Wednesday 10.00am – meet outside Kearsley Mount Methodist Church, Manchester Road, Kearsley, BL4 8QL

Thursday 10.30am – meet outside Rock Hall Visitors Centre, Moses Gate Country Park, Hall Lane, Farnworth, BL4 7QN

Sunday 10.30am – meet outside Leverhulme Park Community Leisure Centre, Long Lane, Breightmet, BL2 6EB

Longer Progressive Walks - These walks are a progression from the Walking for Health shorter walks.  Suitable for those who are used to walking or who would like to walk that little bit further.

Level 3 Progressive Walks – Approx 1.5 - 2.5 hours duration – brisk pace, uneven terrain, some challenging hills, steps & / or stiles

Tuesday 10.00am - meet outside Rock Hall Visitors Centre, Moses Gate Country Park, Hall Lane, Farnworth, BL4 7QN

Tuesday 1.30pm – meet inside the entrance to Morrisons off Lee Gate, Harwood, BL2 3HN (option of a shorther walk depending on the group)

Wednesday 1.00pm – meet on the main car park, Moss Bank Park, off Moss Bank Way, Smithills.  (please note at busy periods, Easter and summer school holiday’s, the group may meet on the top car park round the back of the park).

These walks are part of Walk this Way - Bolton’s Health Walks scheme.  Please contact the scheme co-ordinator before joining a walk for the first time as the timetable may have changed.
