About Walking for Health
"If an over-weight diabetic with high blood pressure, thyroid and cholesterol problems who has had cancer can still walk - there is hope for anyone!"
Our free health walks make sure no one gets left behind. Short and over easy terrain, they are open to everyone on a drop in basis but are especially aimed at those who are least active, with lower physical ability or long term conditions.
Older people in particular can often find it difficult to keep active. In their local health walks they will find a friendly and fun way to get out and explore their local area. People who are stepping down from higher levels of physical activity, whether through illness, injury or advancing age, can benefit from joining their local health walk. Low impact and accessible, walking can help them keep active whilst they transition from more strenuous activities.
The social aspects of walking with a group can help with isolation and loneliness. Many of our walkers start walking to improve their health, but find it easy to keep coming back because of all the new friends they’ve made.
