Walking for Health at the RCGP conference

Published: 17th October 2017

We spoke to more than 300 GPs at the Royal College of General Practitioners' annual conference about the benefits of walking.

The Walking for Health team spent two busy days talking to GPs about how walking can benefit their patients physical health and mental wellbeing at the conference, which took place in Liverpool from 12-14th October.

We spoke to GPs who visited our stand about hosting walks from their practice or signposting patients to existing local walks, joined in sessions about promoting physical activity and healthy lifestyles, and gave two presentations to an audience of more than 300!

Working with GP practices is a great way for walking schemes to reach as many inactive people as possible, and those with long term health conditions who could benefit especially from walking.

We're dedicated to reaching people who will benefit the most from walking, and our work with health and social care professionals is one way of achieving this.

We'll be introducing those GPs who expressed an interest in working with us to their local scheme, and supporting them to find an approach that works for them and thier practice.
