Reading Walks Programme are holding their annual walking forum on 20th May, at the South Street Arts Centre in Reading. Please find the following invitation from Reading Walks scheme coordinator Philip Burbidge.

SPEAKERS:
Dr William Bird, Intelligent Health

Reading Walks Programme is delighted to announce that Dr. William Bird, the GP who put forward the vision for Walking for Health, is attending the Forum to talk to us about the exciting work he is currently engaged in.

We also have Charlie Coward, who is the regional ‘Walking for Health’ representative who will be talking about: ‘Walking for Health – more than just walking’. An interactive presentation exploring how Walking for Health supports those most in need of activity and exercise to improve both their health and quality of life.

I will give a brief summary of the Walks Programme and what you have achieved over the last year and a quarter…

and…

I will be announcing a special event for the walk leaders to take place in June.

There will also be a brief session on pre-walk warm-up advice.

We then have some group sessions to discuss these topics:
·       What should be done to keep the walking groups going (e.g. what persuaded you to join)?
·       How can we recruit more walk leaders?
·       Other topics on the day.

If you have any questions or topics you wish to be discussed at the Forum, please send them in by the 10th. May.

There will be refreshments. Parking is nearby at Queen’s Road Car Park. The Oracle riverside and central bus stops are about 8 minutes’ walk away.

Please book by either sending an email or leaving a message on my answerphone as places are limited.

We look forward to seeing you there.
