Help Hertfordshire set a health walks record!

Published: 12th May 2016

Hertfordshire County Council is aiming to set a new record for the greatest number of people out on a Hertfordshire Health Walk at the same time and is inviting residents to join the mass health walk taking place across the county on Monday 16 May.

Hertfordshire’s Countryside Management Service wants to encourage as many people as possible to get involved in the free guided walks which take place throughout the morning and are open to anyone to join.

The record-setting attempt is to celebrate Hertfordshire’s first countywide Walking Festival, which is running throughout May.  The festival has been organised by Hertfordshire County Council’s Countryside Management Service, in partnership with a range of local organisations and dedicated volunteers.

Hertfordshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Public Health, Localism and Libraries, Teresa Heritage, said: “The Walking Festival has really captured the imagination of Hertfordshire residents and the mass health walk is a fantastic way to get even more people involved.

“We’re thrilled to see so many people getting more active; in many ways walking is the perfect prescription, as it’s so good for our health, it’s a great mood-booster and people can easily fit it into their busy lives.

“So dust off your walking shoes and find out where your local walk is, so that you can be part of this record-setting event!”
