Walking for Health to join Get Walking Week 2013
The Ramblers are aiming to get 100,000 people walking during Get Walking Week 2013, but to do this they’ll need our help! Get Walking Week is supporting Britain on Foot, a national campaign to get more people in Britain active in the great outdoors. Walking for Health will be joining Ramblers groups in offering free short walks to encourage more people to take their first steps to an active lifestyle. Three Walking for Health schemes; Walk Hillingdon in London, Swindon Health Walks and Broxtowe Walk & Talk in Nottinghamshire, will be helping to launch the festival by leading walks on Saturday 4th May.
If you’re a Walking for Health scheme coordinator, make sure your walks are promoted as part of Get Walking Week by registering your walks taking place between 4th and 11th May now via the Ramblers website:http://www.ramblers.org.uk/getwalkingweekhealthwalks
The walks you register can be your regular walks or if you’d like to make it more of a celebration, why not use it as a chance to hold a one-off walking event – for instance, to celebrate the efforts of your volunteers or a milestone like your anniversary. You may also want to use this as an opportunity to get in touch with your local Ramblers group and coordinate a joint walk.
