Swindon Health Walks
Swindon Health Walks are weekly group walks that encourage enjoyment of the borough's parks and open spaces. They usually last 40 - 60 minutes and meet at a community venue for refreshments and socialising at the end. All the groups are friendly and welcome new walkers. Some walks offer occasional away days and one-off specials. The local scheme also includes Gentle Walking Groups. These groups offer short, volunteer-led walks of up to 20 mins for beginners, for people recovering from illness, for those with mobility difficulties and wheelchair users. The Gentle Walking Groups offer an alternative seated exercise session in the event of bad weather. People have the chance to try one-off special walks and meet our Volunteer Walk Leaders at an annual Swindon Walking Festival each May. Contact Amanda Rothwell on 01793 465413 to find out more.
