South Molton Striders was formed as a result of demand from members of STRIDE (Strengthening Trails in Devon) an action group devoted to creating and improving Public Rights of Way in the South Molton area.

We are a friendly bunch, out to make new friends and walk to keep fit. Refreshments are usually taken at a local hostelry after each walk.

  • 6 Qualified Leaders.
  • Volunteer Walk Leaders required, please contact Jim.
  • Voluntarily run. All walks are free to all comers.
Remember; Boots are for life, not just for Christmas. (Your life)

Events

STRIDE was responsible for reinstating the Beating of the Bounds of South Molton Parish during the Old English Fayre, in June 2010.

We continued this tradition last year too, on Sunday June 19th. About 80 people came to join us at Thorne Farm on the George Nympton Road. There was free parking with refreshments provided by the Scouts at the end of the 3 mile walk. Part of the Olde English Fayre celebrations and was free to participate.

On June 17th 2012 we will be walking the next 5km stretch of the South Molton Boundary, from Meethe Bridge to Townhouse Lane. We have now recced this walk and have received all landowner permissions.
