Walking for Health is a developing health walks programme organised by Surrey Heath Borough Council and it's team of volunteer walk leaders which provides people with the opportunity to take part in short, safe, sociable walks within local communities.

As well as improving their physical health, people taking part will benefit from making new friends, increased well-being and getting out into the natural environment to enjoy 'green' exercise.

All walks are designed by trained walk leaders for the needs and capabilities of the group, taking into consideration distance, terrain and location. Walks will last between 45 minutes and 2 hours and will involve the opportunity to sit down and enjoy refreshments during or after the walk.

The walk programme is initially looking to involve people who currently lead inactive lifestyles, face barriers to participation in physical activity and those that want to make the first steps to leading a healthier lifestyle.
