Haslemere Walks for Health

As part of "Waverley's Walks for Health" scheme (in conjunction with DC Leisure) we provide free organised walks with trained leaders around Haslemere and the adjacent countryside.
Our walks
3 Separate Weekly Walks leave from:
- Haslewey Community Centre, Lion Green, Haslemere, GU27 1LD (near Tesco) on Tuesdays at 2:30pm
- High Lane Community Centre, Weycombe Road, Haslemere, GU27 1EL (near St Bartholomew's Church) on Thursdays at 1.00pm
- Herons Leisure Centre, Kings Road, Haslemere, GU27 2QT (Sturt Road end) on Saturdays at 11.00am
These walks carry on in all weather, unless in Winter the local pavements are hazourdous due to snow, ice or slush.
All are welcome - just come with comfortable shoes and suitable clothing, allowing 10 minutes for initial registration. All walks last between 40mins to 1 hour and are approximately 2 to 3 miles long
For more information please join a walk, contact the voluntary coordinator or click one of the links below

Events
As well as our regular weekly walks we do have occasional special events, including our A3 Hindhead Tunnel Walk when 80 of us did the walk through on 14th May 2011 along with almost 7,000 others - not all at the same time! Our picture on the left shows some of our group before entering the South Portal of the 1.2 mile tunnel (the longest under dry ground in the country, opened to traffic late in July). The other picture shows 9 of the 10 - new "100" walkers and 1 - new "500" walker, Eileen Archdale, at our Annual Supper on Saturday 17th March after presentation of personalised mugs by the Mayor of Haslemere, Jim Edwards.
The social side is entirely optional but remains popular with many walkers. Tea and coffee are available after most walks at modest charge. We already have plans for the following special events, for which bookings will be required in advance at the walks:
Monday 7th May 2012 - Haslemere Charter Fair - WfH stand and afternoon walks offered around Swan Barn
Monday 4th June - Queen's Diamond Jubilee - WfH special walk as part of main procession from High Lane, through Haslemere Town down to Lion Green where tea will be available (ticket required)
Saturday 21st July - Proposed walk and light lunch in Midhurst area - details to follow
Away Walks using shared transport are sometimes offered, particularly on Saturdays in July and August and are arranged on the day by the leaders as appropriate, provided weather and transport permit. We are fortunate to have many stunning walks in the beautiful surroundings of Haslemere, in addition to a variety of walks direct from each centre.
Walk Leader Training - New leaders are always appreciated and Waverley/DCLeisure hold occasional training days in the area. If you are interested in walk leading for WfH Haslemere, please join one of our walks and make yourself known. Also please take time to read the article attached "Why Get Involved?".
All are welcome to our walks which leave at the same weekly times and meeting places as shown above - so do join us when you can, meet other leaders/walkers and see details of any special events.
