Elmbridge Healthy Walks

A variety of graded walks of varying distance and pace take place at different times of the day various locations in and around the Borough of Elmbridge.
The walks are aimed at all ages and abilities, ranging from half an hour to three hour walks. Some walks are "themed", eg visiting a local landscape gardens, or joining forces with the Elmbridge museum (local history and archeology walks) and the Commons Rangers (bat walk & discover the Commons fungi).
The walks encourage the residents of Elmbridge to take part in regular local walks, progressing to brisker and longer walks as their health and fitness improves. Some walks include stops for coffee or end at a Pub for lunch, and this has developed a strong social theme into the Elmbridge scheme.
Our walks
Elmbridge is lucky to be able to offer walks and some cycle rides, most days of the year. The walks are all led by volunteers, trained by the Natural England's Walking for Health programme. With a new programme produced every two months, participants are encouraged to walk briskly. For health benefits you should breath more deeply and feel warmer when you walk. Although we do attempt to keep to the published timing, a degree of flexibility is needed due to weather conditions etc.
All ages can participate in Healthy Walks, but a parent or carer must supervise walkers under 14. No dogs (unless stated otherwise), except assistance dogs, which must be kept on a lead.
Please choose the grading and length of time your selected walk takes carefully and according to your ability. If you are a novice walker please choose Slow, Flat walks in the first instance.
Be sure to wear suitable clothing and footwear, also bring some drinking water.
