Walking for Health YouTube channel

The Out and About Project has developed this programme of walks with the aim of encouraging more people to enjoy the health benefits of walking and to have some fun!!

We have walks and cycle rides which cater for people of all abilities and fitness levels.

Please wear suitable clothing and footwear for the conditions. 

If you have medication please bring this with you.

If you are diabetic please bring a sugary drink.

We also run community cycle sessions from begginers to advanced.  Cycles and helmets provided for £1.50 per session.  We are accredited providers of Bikeability, cycle training for safer road cycling.


Our walks

Walks in Nelson

Every Monday - Meet ACE Foyer 10.00 am.  We have a chioce of two walks, one for 30 minutes and the other for one hour.  Both are great if you have not walked in a while and are looking to get into walking again.

Tuesday Step Walks - Meet various locations for a walk of 2 hours at a moderate pace 10.00 am.  Will include off road walking, stiles and easy hills.

New location - Sabden - come and explore witch country!

Tuesday Marsden Meander - a walk in partnership with Age Concern.  2.00 pm from Williams Hall, Barkerhouse Road Nelson.  One hour beginners walk.  After walk refreshments provided £1

Walks in Brierfield

Every Wednesday - Meet inside Brierfield Community Centre 10.30 am ladies only! Walk for one hour at a steady pace

Walks in Colne

Every Monday- Meet Pendle Leisure Centre Foyer, Colne 1.00 pm.  This is a new walk to complement our longer walk, it will be at a steady pace, mostly flat and last one hour.

Every Wednesday - Meet in various locations at 1.30 pm.  A weekly walk of up to an hour and a half taking in off-road walking and easy hills.

Its Friday at Last!  Walks start 2.00 pm.  Meet Colne library last Fri. in October, Pendle Leisure Centre, Colne last Fri in Nov.  Walks last 2.5 hours and include stiles and hills.

Walks in Barrowford and Nelson

Every Thursday - Meet in various locations at 10.00 am.  A weekly walk of up to 2 and a half hours.  Includes off-road walking and hills.

Lunchtime walk - A led lunchtime walk by Pendle Borough Council staff.  Meet outside No.1 Market Street 12.30 - 1.00 pm brisk pace.

Every Thursday - Let's Walk the Nature Reserves, meet in differnet places Nelson and Colne.  Listen to a talk from the Wildlife Trust along the way. 1.30 pm 45 mins - 1 1/2 hours.


Every Thursday - Meet 10.00 am at Pendle Day Care Centre.  A walk of one hour for adults with learning disabilites.

Histrory Health Walks - join the community history manger at Nelson Library Wed. 6th October, Pendle Heritage Centre Wed 13th Oct. Barnoldswick library Wed 20th Oct and Colne library Wed 27th Oct.  Walks last 1 hour with refreshments.

Events

We are running a navigation course for walkers and volunteers.  The course is Monday 18th October 2.00 - 4.00 pm at the ACE Centre, Nelson.

Why not learn how to read a map with confidence and explore the Pendle countryside.

Sunday Christmas special - Sunday 19th Nov meet Colne Library 10.30 am for a 8 mile walk around Colne's countryside.
