Kendal & Staveley: One Step at a Time

Region: North West
Last updated: 21, October 2011

Our walks

We are now not putting on organised led walks  but there are excellent Walk Packs available free for interested people to keep and use for self guiding at your own risk.

These walk packs are for the benefit of the community and Walking the Way to Health - Kendal & Staveley leave these walk packs as their legacy of some marvellous work since 2003 when 'One step at a time' was set up.

The walks are suitable for everyone - especially for those who take little exercise or who are recovering from health problems.

Walking is perfect exercise, and has excellent positive social, physical and mental benefits.

There are 8 different walks in the area ranging from a ¾ mile easy route in Kirkland (suitable for  people who use wheelchair and prams or buggies) to more challenging routes including a 'mini fell walk'    to Cunswick Scar which gives fantastic views of the Lakeland fells, Howgills, Ingleborough and Morecambe Bay.

Walk Packs are available from Cumbria County Council, Doctors Surgeries in Kendal and the Tourist Information Centre or can be downloaded from the lakes leisure website and the Active Cumbria website.
