West Northumberland Health Walks

About us
West Northumberland (formerly Tynedale) Health walks provide short (2-3 mile) walks on a weekly basis from 8 towns and villages across Tynedale. All the walks are free and there is no booking procedure. Individual programmes for each group are avilable from the co-ordinator.
All the walks are led by volunteer leaders and the co-ordinator always welcome enquiries from anyone interested in training to be a leader.

Mondays Stocksfield - Station Car Park 10:00am
Mondays Hexham - Wentworth Leisure Centre, main entrance,10:00am
Tuesdays Haltwhistle - Sainsbury's Car Park 11:30am
Tuesdays Wark - Next to the Post Office 10:00am
Wednesdays Corbridge - Coigns Corner 10:00am
Wednesdays Bellingham - Rose and Crown 10:30 am
Thursdays Allendale - Outside Co-op 10:00am
Thursdays Prudhoe - Riverside Country Park 10:30am
Fridays - Tyne Valley Nordic Walkers - walks take place every Friday afternoon, meeting time 1.30pm. Walk locations vary from week to week across the Tyne Valley, but are usually 3 to 4 miles in length and last approx. 2 hours. Basic Nordic walking tuition and Nordic walking poles can be provided for a limited period when initially joining the group. Haltwhistle Walking Festival - Health Walk (Friday 4th May 2012): A short interesting walk from Walltown Quarry on Hadrian's Wall.
This walk is a joint venture between Haltwhistle Walking Festival and the West Northumberland Health Walks to provide a festival walk. The leader, Chirsty Henderson, is a regular leader for the Haltwhistle Health Walks on Tuesdays. We hope that walkers from all the West Northumberland Health Walks and from the rest of Northumberland will come along and meet each other. People who have not tried a health walk before are particularly welcome to attend. This could be your chance to start walking!
Meet at: 2.00pm, Walltown Quarry car park, parking fee £3 (2011 price) (GR 668659)
Distance: 2 miles, Grade: Easy with one short incline. The pace will be very gentle with frequent stops.
Walk Fee: FREE, but booking is essential because places are limited to 25 walkers
Other information: Walkers may wish to arrive before the walk and eat a packed lunch at the Quarry where there are picnic tables, hot drinks and snacks available. Public toilets are available here.Booking to be made by telephoning 01434 322025 or email haltywalkfest@btinternet.com
