Easington Get Active Get Walking


Get Active Get Walking, in partnership with Walking for Health programme, aims to encourage more people to walk more often to improve the health and wellbeing of local people and involves weekly Health Walks, Health Walk taster sessions and district wide Walking events
Our walks
Get Active Get Walking Weekly Health Walks
Get Active currently deliver a series of safe and enjoyable health walks at various locations around the district. The walks are designed for participants to enjoy all the health benefits associated with walking and are led by qualified Volunteer Walk Leaders.
Get Active currently have weekly health walks at the following venues:
- Wheatley Hill Health Walk, Greenhills Community Centre - Monday’s 10 - 11am
- Easington Colliery Health Walk (Former Pit Car Park) - Monday’s 10:30 – 11:30am
- Seaham Health Walk, Noses Point (Car Park 1) - Monday’s 1:30 – 2:30pm
- Thornley Health Walk, Age Concern - Tuesday’s 9:45 – 10:45am
- Peterlee Health Walk, The Pavilion - Tuesday’s 10 – 11am
- Ludworth Health Walk, Ludworth Community Centre - Thursday’s 9:45 – 10:45am
- Castle Eden Dene Health Walk - Thursday’s 10 – 12:00pm
- Castle Eden Dene Weekend Walk - Sunday’s 10:00 – 12:00pm
- Blackhall Health Walk, Blackhall Community Centre - Friday’s 1:00 – 2:00pm
All the above health walks are accessible to all ages and abilities and are a great opportunity to meet new people.

Family Footsteps Walks
The Family Footsteps Walks aim to provide opportunities for local people to take part in regular physical activity whilst exploring the local area. The walks are accessible to all ages and abilities and are led by qualified volunteer walk leaders.
The walks will last approximately 1 hour, starting and finishing at the same point. All chosen venues are located within the District of Easington, therefore transport is not provided.
