Walk Your Way to Health in Harrow

Over 400 people are already walking their way to health in Harrow, join them for a leisurely and social walk around Harrow's wonderful green spaces.

Walk for health is a great way to meet new like minded people and explore your local area without having to worry about getting lost or having to plan your route!

Walk for Health in Harrow is ideal for people new to exercise or those who would like to just do a little more excercise; particularly those asked to exercise by their GP.  We also welcome more experienced walkers or those looking to imorive on their current fitness levels- these people can follow the walk leaders around the more challenging routes!

Our FREE weekly walks are led by at least two WfH qualified Walk Leaders. With no need to book in advance you can just turn up on the day, you can attend as many walks as you want and all you need are some comfy shoes- they dont have to be walking boots.

Key-

Difficulty      1- Easy, no gradients, even ground, 30mins

                     2- Moderate, some slight gradients, mostly even ground, 1 hour

                     3- Moderate to difficult, includes gradients, some uneven ground, 1 hour

                     4, Difficult, includes gradients, rough ground, 1 hour+

 

MONDAY

South Harrow Circular

Difficulty-3  

Time: Every Monday at 10.30-11.30am

Meet: South Harrow Tube Station, Ticket Hall

Bus: 114, 140, 258, H10, H12, H9.

Information: Roxeth Recreation Park, South Hill Ave and surrounding area. Route varies, and includes rough ground and steep gradients.Not Wheelchair/Pushchair friendly as it has steps/stiles

 

 

TUESDAY

Harrow Recreation Walkers

Difficulty- 1

Time: Every Tuesday at 10.30-11am

Meet: Hindes Road Entrance to Harrow Recreation Ground

Bus: H14 directly or any bus stopping at Harrow Bus Station (meeting point 5 min walk)

 Information: A beginner’s walk for people new to group walking or those who are less able, very flat, even easier route available- just speak to the Walk Leaders.  Route includes benches, a water fountain and toilets. Wheelchair/Pushchair friendly     

 

Harrow Three Parks Walk

Difficulty- 3

Time: every Tuesday at 2-3pm

Meet: Harrow-on-the-Hill Tube Station, Lowlands Road side

Bus: 223, 340, H9, H10, H11, H17, H18, H19

Information: Harrow-on-the-Hill, Harrow Recreation Ground and West Harrow Park, mostly flat, even ground although sometimes with a steep hill at the start.  Can be altered to be wheelchair/pushchair friendly 

 

WEDNESDAY

Northwick Park Wanderers

Difficulty- 3

Time: Every Wednesday at 10.30-11.30am

Meet: Northwick Park Tube Station (inside the Ticket Hall)

Bus: 223, 186, H10, H9, H14

 Information: Some rough ground, gradient sometimes included, usually Harrow School or Preston Road route, route may vary. Not wheelchair/pushchair friendly as it has steps/stiles 

 

 

THURSDAY

Pinner Walk

Difficulty-2

Time: Every Thursday at 10-11am (longer more challenging walk on the first Thursday of the month)

Meet: The ‘Daisy’s in the Park’ Café at West House, Pinner Memorial Park

Bus: H12, H13, 183

 Information: Take a trip around Historical Pinner.  The walk is flat, mostly on dry even ground, route varies. Longer walk first Thurs of the month. Not wheelchair/pushchair friendly as it has gates and steps           

 

FRIDAY

North Harrow Circular

Time:  Every Friday at 11am-12.30pm

Meet: North Harrow Underground Station

Bus: H10, H18, 183, H9

Information: This walk includes parts of the Pinner Park Farm and Headstone Manor Recreation Ground, the walking pace is likely to be moderate to fast, not a beginners walk. Not suitable for wheelchairs or puschairs.

  

SATURDAY

Rayners Lane Ramblers

Difficulty- 2

Time: Every Saturday 10-11am OR

Every Tuesday evening (only in the summer) 7-7.45pm

Meet: Rayners Lane Tube Station

Bus: H9, 398, H10, H12

Information: Mainly off road, very green, usually muddy especially after rain, route varies.  Not wheelchair/pushchair friendly as it has steps/stiles.    

        

The Belmont Rattler (summer walk only- April to October)

Difficulty- 4

Time: The second Saturday of every month 2pm-5pm (summer only)      

Meet: Wealdstone side of Harrow and Wealdstone Train Station    

Bus: 140, 182, 186, 258, 340, H9, H10 (or you may get the bus back from Stanmore-340, H12, 142)                 

Information: Three hour walk in summer, with a break for tea in Stanmore. Option to leave the walk in Stanmore (half way). Steep gradient. Mainly rough ground. Waterproof footwear recommended after wet weather.  Not suitable for wheelchairs or puschairs due to uneven ground.

 

Grim’s Dyke Heritage Trail

Difficulty-3-4

Time: The first Saturday of each month, 11am-12.30pm

Meet: Hatch End Train Station

Bus: H14, H12

Information: circular walk, approx 4.5 miles, including a rest break at the scenic Old Redding, rough ground and waterproof footwear recommended after wet weather. Not wheelchair/pushchair friendly as it has steps/stiles.
