Croydon - Walking for Gold!
Region: London
Last updated: 18, April 2012

As part of the City of London’s support of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, we are developing a legacy programme of health walks to promote green exercise and healthy living.

Walking in a group is a great way to start walking and to stay motivated. Health walks aim to help you improve your health and well-being through brisk walking for at least 30 minutes each day.

You’ll make friends and discover new places to walk in your neighbourhood. Walking for Health has over 500 groups across England that meet for regular health walks.

Anyone can join in – it’s free and fun. Just call to book your place.

Your local group at City Commons is called Walking for Gold! We will support you every step of the way and provide:

  • Free walks for absolute beginners
  • Trained walk leaders
  • A friendly, local group to walk with
  • A chance to kick start that health regime!
  • Safe routes using your local open space
  • Consideration of your health needs
  • Opportunities to get involved and lead walks as part of our team

Our walks

Kenley - Bronze Walk (approx. 3km)

Fortnightly walk with alternating route. The first route is over flat terrain, following the track around this historic airfield. The second route is slightly longer, taking us off the track and into the woodland on the common with a slight incline.

Both routes are suitable for people who do not walk regularly.

The first route is suitable for pushchairs and wheelchair users, no facilities available.

Starting at 10am from The Tribute, Hayes Lane. Postcode: CR5 8HN will take you onto Hayes Lane. There is a brown tourist direction sign to 'RAF Kenley Tribute' where we meet, and lay-by parking is available opposite.
