Barking and Dagenham Walks Programme
Our health walks have been set up and are delivered in partnership by the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham's Community Sports and Physical Activity team, Rangers service and North East London Foundation Trust, Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) service alongside 'Walking for Health' to provide opportunities for the community to improve their health and fitness, as well as make friends.
All walks are at the walker's own pace, with trained leaders. The walks are a great way of making new friends and keeping fit and healthy as well as improving mental health and wellbeing. They also offer a chance to spend time in the natural environment.
At the moment, six regular walks are in place.
|Walk name||Route options available||Length (hours)|
A. Mayesbrook Park
B. Church Elm Lane Health Centre
C. Becontree Heath Leisure Centre
D. Millennium Centre
All of these walks are on pathways, and therefore fully accessible for wheelchairs and prams except for Fridays at Millennium Centre.
Our aim is to provide more walks around the borough. However, we need more volunteer walk leaders. If you are interested in training as a volunteer walk leader, please contact the Walk Co-ordinator.
