InStep is a vibrant group of about 200 mostly mature people who welcome any walker to join them. We walk 4 times a week throughout the year, with a range of over 30 different walks in and around Mansfield, each led by some of our  team of 24 leaders They are careful to set the pace according to the abilities of the walkers and constantly monitor their progress.

The programme is published  twice a year, and is also available on our own website:   www.instepmansfield.org

Our walks

InStep walks are graded, with those on a Wednesday afternoon at 2pm classified as "easy".  They last about one hour and are on the level or have only gentle gradients.    Walks on Mondays, Thursdays and Sundays start at 10am, classified as "moderate" or "strenuous" so there are steeper gradients.

The environment varies widely; even if we begin a walk in the town we soon pass into parks or border  lakes.  Several of our routes are over the former spoil heaps from the mining industry, now carefully landscaped, with a network of well constructed paths or surfaced trails of the defunct railway lines.  We have others which are truly rural, in Sherwood Forest and around Hardwick Park for example
