Houghton Health Walk

Region: East Midlands
Last updated: 03, May 2012

Houghton Health Walk is a scheme for local people who do not walk on a regular basis. The group offers a safe and sociable environment, allowing group members to enjoy exploring the village of Houghton on the Hill, meet new people, and take an active role in managing their health.

Our walks

We offer a weekly walk:

Thursday mornings, meeting at 9.30am.

The walk starts outside the Co-op on Main Street, Houghton and is led by one or two trained health walk leaders.

The walk lasts from 30-45 minutes, depending on the wishes and abilities of the group. Terrain is unchallenging, but it is advisable to wear suitable and comfortable footwear (such as trainers - no stilettoes please!).

The walk is suitable for all abilities, ages and speeds, nobody will be left behind! The social aspect is very important in this group and new comers or visitors will be made very welcome.

Events

Once a month we meet as usual but drive to another site for a change of scenery. We try to go somewhere fairly local with a cafe  for refreshments and chatter after our walk.
