Derwent Trekkers

We are an informal group doing leisurely walks of up to 2.5 miles (4km) that last about an hour.
We meet on Thursday mornings in the Freshbites Cafe at the Revive Healthy Living Centre - 9:45 for 10:00 departure.
Everyone is welcome. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult. You will be required to complete an "Outdoor Health Questionnaire" in line with Walking for Health who provide our insurance. Our volunteer walk leaders are trained by Walking for Health trainers.
Our walks
Some of our walkers have medical conditions which restrict them from walking with more active groups. Most of our walks are on bridleways and cycle/walkways with only slight hills and no stiles.
Our walks include the Derby Canal Path, Great Northern Greenway, Riverside Path through Derby, Elvaston Park, Attenborough Nature Reserve, Shipley Country Park and many lesser known routes around Derby. The photographs above show some of our walkers (left) in the Science Garden at Alvaston Park, Derby and (right) on the Erewash Valley Trail between Ilkeston and Sandiacre.
We use a bus to transport us to the start of a walk and to pick us up again. This enables us to do point to point walks with different start and end points. A charge of £4 per person is made to cover the cost of the bus.
Most of our walks have a cafe en route or at the end. Refreshments are paid for by each walker.
