Partnership working
Partnerships have been key to the success and growth of Walking for Health since the project launched in 2000.
From community groups at grass roots level, to national organisations such as The British Heart Foundation and The Department of Health, partnerships are a vital way to spread the message and directly support individuals in getting more physically active.
Types of partnerships
There are different ways to get involved with Walking for Health, and your organisation may find that you can partner with us in several ways. Here's a list of partnership types:
- Delivery partners - organisations whose staff we can train to deliver health walks, for example through workplace health walks, or through local schemes delivered by local authorities or health authorities.
- Referral partners - people or groups that are key to referring people to their nearest health walks. An obvious example would be a GP surgery.
- Marketing partners - companies who can promote the benefits of Walking for Health. Previous examples have included Millets and Tesco
- Strategic partners - those organisations who are capable of providing funding or a long-term partnership to deliver health walks. Currently the national centre of Walking for Health is delivered by a strategic partnership between the Ramblers and Macmillan Cancer Support.
