Goto Scheme Step Out Sheffield
Walk name: Stocksbridge health walk
Time: Meet 10.20 in time to start walking at 10.30am
Meet: This walk has a unique way of getting round the fact that they don't have a regular venue from which to start and end their walks. They have a monthly programme of walks which is advertised on the Step out Sheffield Stocksbridge Walk web page. On the last walk of every month walkers are given a small laminated card with the locations of next month's walks. For the whole of the week before any given walk you can listen to a recorded message on the Stocksbridge walk helpline 07546 660286 to find out where the next walk is. On the day of the walk the leader will leave a message on the helpline if, due to adverse weather conditions, the walk that day has been cancelled. Walkers are expected to make their own way to these walks but car sharing is positively encouraged. Potential new walkers should let Chris, the leader, know if they need help with transport. Chris can be reached by email on firstname.lastname@example.org or by phoning the Step out Sheffield helpline (07505639524) and asking Carol to pass on a message for you.If we can help we will!
Description: This group is a big one and the volunteers offer three different walks each week. There is a brisk walk of approximately 60 minutes for the most able walkers, a 60-minute walk at a moderate pace, and a 30-45-minute walk at a leisurely pace. The programme includes many scenic venues north of Sheffield. Refreshments are available after the walk. Every so often the volunteers organise a social after the walk and there is always a Christmas lunch at Cannon Farm to enjoy.
